This Independence Day critique analyzes the classic film as a prophetic social commentary on the Uber wealthy, capitalism, and planetary resource extraction.
In my film course it would be my goal to emphasize that we are all just gears in the system, some larger than others, but that we must all hang on to our humanity as we become mechanized and less self sufficient if we are to remain human.
